Freshwater West beach in Pembrokeshire
Of course not literally, but it was published today in the local newspaper that the Freshwater West (the location of one of my recent trecks: The difference is in the Angle) will be used as a filming location for the upcoming movies Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood remake.
The debate is now mostly concerning whether the beach will still be opened to the public and when the road will be closed during the filming in May and June 2009. The biggest problem I see is that there isn’t much parking available close to the beach anyway so I suppose that is why they will shut the road off.

Just been down there, by accident, and there are cars parked all over the place! The carpark at Angle end is already closed off and they haven’t started filming yet. Stand by for chaos! I look forward to when they are gone, and we get back to normal.

Yeah, I presume we have lost the access to the beach for a couple of months in any way, despite the promises of the road staying open for most of the time

The filming for Robin Hood starts 15h June until 30th so probably best to avoid Freshwater West. However, if anyone wants cheap as chips holiday chalets at Freshwater East, so they can pop over to see the filming – we’re the ones to contact!!

I visited freshwater west on the 27th june. We were not allowed to drive along the beach road, but a parking area in a field was allocated for visiters.We walked the full length of the beach and back viewing items of interest. 4.p.m we watched them filming on the beach for 2 hours taking loads of photos.A most enjoyable day.
