HalifaxSucks.com

I was going to write this post thinking that such a website does not exist and that my bad experience with this bank is unique. Oh no, I stand corrected, the site does exist, sort of, under the UK domain system (http://www.halifaxsucks.co.uk), but it does describe the banking problems of just one individual which is not really what I would be looking for.

I don’t know what kind of security systems other UK banks have but I have been bitterly disappointed with the one Halifax has. In Slovenia, where I live at the moment, many of the banks use a on-line system of digital certificates which encrypts the contents between your computer and the bank’s server. All Halifax is a complicated system of passwords and user names and security questions. And if you forget any of your passwords, tough luck, which is what has happened to me.
“Visit your branch” they say, which at the moment, according to Google maps is exactly 1602 kilometres from here.

I have asked my skydiving forum buddies on UKS to advise me on which bank to choose and I got many replies.
