Tomorrow will be marked by the summer solstice – the longest day in the year and it definately shows in this part of Europe, being so far north compared to Slovenia. The sun sets very late and the twilight lasts well into the late evening. But the strangest thing is the weather and especially the temperatures. Just a little while ago I checked the temperatures in Ljubljana was 30°C when it was only 17°C in Haverfordwest. It actually gets so cold during parts of the day that we turn on the heating in the house I am staying out.
But I’ll be honest and tell you that I quite like it as it is. In some parts of Slovenia it was forecasted as 35°C and that is way to high for me, thank you very much. I’d rather be a little colder here than be boiling hot in Slovenia
The only problem I encounter is on a Friday night when I want to be outside to have a beer and find I have to retreat inside or think ahead and bring along a sweater.
